Germany 1924 Zeppelin Medal. In silver, 33mm, by Lauer. Bust of Hugo Eckener/View of airship LZ126 (ZR-3) over coast. Extremely Fine.
This airship was given over to the US as part of war reparations, she was commissioned into the US Navy as ZR-3 and remained in service until 1932. Unlike many sister ships, ZR-3 did not meet with a disattrous end and was finally dismantled in her hager in 1939, having been the longest serving rigid airship ever operated by the US Navy.

US Civil War Confederate Banknotes & Promissary Notes.
The Confederates fought for the evil cause of slavery and were justly defeated. However, one can not help but admire their tenacity and sacrifice. Here is a quote from Winston Chuchill's masterpiece "A History of the English speaking peoples" Vol 4.
War had never reached such an intensity of moral and physical forces focused on decisive points as in this campaign of 1862. The number of battles that were fought and their desperate, bloody nature far surpassed any events in which Napoleon ever moved. From June 1, when Lee was given command, the Army of Northen Virginia fought seven ferocious battles - The Seven Days, Cedar Run, the Second Manassas, South Mountain, Harpers Ferry, the Antietam and later Fredricksburg - in as many months. Lee very rarely had three-quarters and several times only half the strength of his opponents. These brave Northeners were certainly hampered by a woeful political direction, but, on the other side, the Confederates were short of weapons, ammunition, food, equipment, clothes and boots. It was even said that their line of march could be traced by the bloodstained footprints of unshod men. But the Army of Northern Virginia "carried the Confederacy on its bayonets" and made a struggle unsurpassed in history.
