SG 21, Four margins, large in places, with portions of adjoining stamps at right and base, fine used, and scarce so nice, part of a set of three of the first stamps issued by NSW.

New South Wales. 1897 Charity Pair, mint, scarce.  With gum, hinged, usual condition for period. These large and impressive multi coloured stamps had a letter rate of 1d and 2.5d, but were sold for 1s and 2/6d, with the balance going to Charity.

Issued to raise funds for the Boer War. Face value 2d but sold at two shillings, with the balance going to the Patriotic Fund. Unused, Some creasing and signs of age, but a large, rare stamp from this period.
